I
was born in Vancouver, and have lived in the Lower Mainland all my life. I now
live in Langley with my husband, and enjoy having our two married sons and their
wives nearby. I am a babysitting - grandmother of three, as well as a part time
sales rep for a small publishing company. I enjoy being at home, and have made
many crafts through the years. In May 2004, I made myself a jean purse, and
friends began asking me to make one for them. In the first few weeks I was overwhelmed
by their popular demand, and soon found myself sewing nearly non-stop in order
to keep up. Hergy's Handbags are now in three shops in the Greater Vancouver area.
I use recycled children's jeans and new fabrics to line the purses. The buckles
are ordered from New York. Each jean purse is unique as sizes, shapes, colours
and linings are different. All parts of the jeans are used for the purse itself,
for straps, bottoms, sunglasses cases, tote bags, and mini purses. I have worked
at making the finished product something that I am proud to sell, so that my
customer will be happy she bought a purse that she can enjoy for a long time.
As each purse takes several hours to shop for supplies, and to cut and sew,
I get a little attached to them! But I love to share them with others and see
women of all ages enjoying them. I sell them by meeting people when I go out,
referrals, craft fairs and markets, as well as at local stores.
Thank you for your
interest in Hergy's Handbags,
